Bahari Resources, the privately-owned oil and gas exploration company focused on Africa and the Western Indian Ocean, is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Alan Stein to the Board of Bahari as a Non-Executive Director.
Dr. Stein was one of the two founding executive directors of Ophir Energy plc where he held the position of Managing Director and Deputy Chairman until 2012. Ophir was involved in multiple discoveries offshore Tanzania and Equatorial Guinea. Alan was actively involved across all aspects of Ophir’s development from building the portfolio, negotiating commercial transactions, building the capabilities of the organization, capital raisings and interfacing with investors culminating with the successful IPO on the London Stock Exchange in 2011. At the time this was the biggest E&P IPO in Europe and it was the most successful IPO in London during 2011.
Prior to this, Alan was the Managing Director of Fusion Oil & Gas plc which had a portfolio of interests in Africa and made several discoveries offshore Mauritania. Alan began his career as a geologist with oil consultants Dolan & Associates where he worked on projects in Europe, Australia and the Far East and in 1994, he was one of the founding partners of the IKODA consultancy group.
Dr. Stein Alan is a non-executive chairman of Neon Energy Limited, an ASX-listed petroleum exploration and production company, as well as Hanno Resources Limited, a private mineral exploration company. Alan is also a Partner at Havoc Partners LLP, a natural resources investment partnership focussed primarily on the oil and gas sector.
Peter Wakeling, CEO of Bahari Resources, commented:
“We are delighted that Alan has joined the Board of Bahari as a Non-Executive Director. Alan’s wealth of experience and expertise in the oil and gas industry, most notably from his time as Managing Director and then Deputy Chairman of one of the largest holders of offshore acreage in East Africa, Ophir Energy, brings considerable benefit to the Bahari team. Alan’s insight, corporate experience and deep knowledge of offshore East African petroleum geology will be invaluable to our continuing efforts in the Comoros and the Western Indian Ocean.”
