Azali wins election

Assoumani Azali was elected President of Comores following a democratic and peaceful election process in Comoros.

President Azali a former president from 2002, becomes the third democratically elected President of the Comores when he takes over from Ikililou Dhoinine in May 2016. This marks further progress for the country in the transition to full democracy from military rule in 2002.
